This Week- An Owl and A Tea Party for Tracey.

I saw a new challenge blog via the very talented, funny and inspiring Sherrie's  http://happytiler.blogspot.com/ blog. If you have not been to her blog, you must; I love her colorful, whimsical illustrations and honest musings about people and life.
The challenge blog is named  http://mix-it-monthly.blogspot.com/ hosted by Pia Rom. I just saw her art blog and love what she has posted there. I think I need to take more time and explore this wonderful artist's  pages. Here is the link to her art blog: http://piaromsartjournaling.blogspot.com/
For December she has given the theme of creating owls. This is the mixed media owl that I did on my journal page.
I used Twinkling H20s on the owl. I think I will be using Twinks a lot in the coming year. Love the shimmer and brightness of these.

As 2013 is coming to an end I also wanted to showcase  some of my favorite pages from my art journal.
I think this was an year where I had a wonderful creative growth.
Here are my 5 favorite art journal pages
This is a page where I had used so much texture and paint. Somehow I still have the feeling that I need to do something more on this page. So I've left it like that. Guess, when inspiration strikes I'll go for it.
This is a page where I used my neo-colors. I love the brightness of these watercolor crayons.

The above two pages were done using lots of stencils, resists, acrylics and watercolors and other ephemera.
I love the whiteness of this page.Usually I'm a person who tries to fill my page with  colors. But for this one I deliberately avoided it and came up with something simple.

This page is also for Tracey http://traceyfletcherking.blogspot.com/ . I've always been a great fan of her watercolor illustrations. This week Kristin and Eva are hosting a wonderful tea part for Tracey. I was just about to publish my post when I heard about it. So I felt this page is so apt for this beautiful woman who not only has a way with words and paints but also is brave and inspiring.

That is it for this week. I've got some more favorite pages from my art journal  to share. Will be back with them on next week.

Wishing all my dear friends in blog land a Merry Christmas.
Thank you for being here.
Susan
