What I am reading now

One of my favorite places that I visit every week is the library. This year I've decided to do some mindful reading. Last month I started making a list of books that I wanted to read.
This site here: helps  me to choose the books that I want.

I'm currently reading three books. Yes, sometimes I read that way:) [one is kept in the bedroom, one in the living and the third..., well I 've to search for it now]

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is a sad but interesting read.

This is my first time with The Diary of a Wimpy Kid and am enjoying it immensely.

The third book I have is Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach.

It was only recently that I got introduced to his books. Last month I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we all watched the movie too. I got his The Enormous Crocodile for my 'almost' six year old as his Christmas gift and we both enjoyed reading it together. For now I'm sticking with his kids' books
My son too loves reading. He's so much into the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. We finished Tigers at Twilight and I'm also reading  The Puffin Twentieth-Century Collection of Verse to both of them. I'm sure my youngest doesn't get it that much (he will turn 2 in March) still I love the way he earnestly sits and listens to what I read/ sing. He loves the illustrations in the book too.

I have planned to read at least one book per week and so far it has been going really well.
Have you read any of the above mentioned books? Do you have any 'must read' suggestions? I read almost every kind of books except science fictions.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance.

  1. Hi Susan,

Love the drawing of your everyday, books and libraries are my FAVORITE ALSO!! I think your doing good with the kid books, we've read them too. I love the Wimpy Kid ones, did you see there movies based off the books. YOU MUST WATCH THEM, SOOOOO FUNNY!!

I use to read the Boxcar Children book with my kids too, LOVE THEM. We also did the Little House On the Paraire series, your son might like those. Let me think some more and will tell you any others I remember. Sam read Thomas the Train and when little loved books with numbers, he's always loved numbers.

I don't read many books, my favorites are by Danielle Steele, have read them since high school. The little series by Debbie Mcomber (sp) is good too, it's the series of them on BLOSSOM STREET, you will like them.

I saw your comment on my blog and have not read the Happiness Project yet, they just called and it's in so I will be getting it, can't wait to read it.
Keep forgetting to tell you about the free "Jumpstart 2013" by Nat Natalich you know her thru Julie's blog. Did you sign up for that, everyday you get an awesome video by an artist and lasts all thru January. Go sign up if you haven't, lots of fun stuff and new things to try.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you so much for your suggestions Dawn. Last year I had signed up for the Jumpstart but somehow this year I missed it. I'm sure you'll enjoy The Happiness Project.

  2. Oh, Roald Dahl is marvellous! I read 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' to my daughter when she was three. We read the entire thing in one sitting because she was spell-bound. As soon as we got to the end she shouted, 'Again! Again!' I think we read five of his books that week :)

    1. Thank you Tracy. You must have read it to her so well. My son is 5 but I am sure he wouldn't have the patience to hear me read the whole story that's why I took the movie and he enjoyed it.

  3. I used to love the libraries... They are such a peaceful place to be.
