Happy 2014 to all. Hope everyone's first week has started off well.
My creative plan for 2014 is to learn and practice more art, to try and find a style of my own and above all to create more meaningful art; art that comes from my experience, that has a story behind it.
This is my first art journal page of this year. Inspired by this season I created this page using glimmer mist, gesso, chevron stencil, snowflake stickers, glitter snow, and paper collage.I also added a quote by J.K.Rowling on the side of the page: "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that."
This quote is a self reminder as I tend to sit and dream a lot but am very laid back in acting them out. As one of my words for this year is Growth I find this quote to be very relevant to my creative journey.
This year I have joined for two free creative projects. One is The Documented Life Project hosted by Roben Marie and four other talented women. If you are interested in this project click on this link You will get all the details.
The first prompt there was to create or add a picture of our 'front door' to our art. I took a cut out from a magazine, added water colors to it and created this page. I finished this simple page with a self-made quote:
"We celebrate our most precious GIFT in here: LIFE. You are Welcome to be a part of it."
The second project that I have registered for is known as Root: A 30 Day Journal Project hosted by the talented artist, Lisa Sonora Beam. I have immensely enjoyed her book The Creative Entrepreneur... If you have not read it, I highly recommend it.
Back to Roots. This is also a free project. It is a 30 Day project with inspiring quotes as prompts. You can find the details here
I did the the above two pages based on her prompts. When I did these two pages I was not looking to end up with beautiful or amazing art pages instead these are pages where I have took time to think about why I journal, what inspires me and how I can grow as an artists and so on. I already love this project and hope that after 30 days I will be able to achieve more discipline in my art journaling.
One more thing that I want to share here is this Calendar page. I recycled my 2013 calendar using gesso and gelli print pattern paper. This is the January sheet. I had lots of gelli paper scraps which I didn't have the heart to throw away. So here they are, I used them on this page and more are there for the coming months.
This post has got so long. Sorry for that. Hope you enjoyed my art pages.
