The Waiting
The afternoon heat welled up
The specks of dust danced in the air
The women in the huts dozed off
A bitch curled up under the shade of the tree
Only the little urchins, waited at the corner
All ears for the distant ringing of the bell
That announced the arrival of the ice candy man.
