29 Faces Day 25,- 29

Good bye February but when can we say good bye to snow?  Anyways I'm now tired off whining about the weather so Ms. Winter you just stay as long as you wish, I have other better things to think about!

I have completed the 29 Faces Challenge! (I guess only 28 for this month but I created one more)So happy that I was able to finish it.This year I have enjoyed the process so much as I remembered not to stress about completing the challenge.

Here are my last five days faces. I did tomorrow's too as weekend is going to be a busy time for us.
Day: 25, 26
Two different faces: Loved the sweet faces of these camels which I saw in my son's story book. I gave them a try with watercolors.
Day:27
A face using acrylic paints and gesso.
Day:28
It is amazing to see what white can do to a painting. I was not happy with her but once I added white around her, the feel of the painting itself changed.
Day:29
She is my last girl. The background is heavy with lots of texture. Can you see the little white flowers at the bottom. They are real ones-:) And Yes, of course I finished my faces with the desire to see Spring soon.

I also made a collage of all my 29 faces. Here it is:
Thank you Ayala Art for hosting this wonderful challenge. I not only had the pleasure to create these many faces but also loved seeing so many different  faces created by other lovely artists.

Thank you everyone for your lovely words of encouragement. See you in March with a new challenge named, http://30daysoflists.com/

Faces 22, 23 and 24

Time for Tea again with Bluebeard and Elizabeth and all the others who are a part of this challenge. The best part of this week is that I got to do my post early:) .

Today I wanted to share with you the next three faces that I did for Days: 22, 23 and 24
Day:22

I did this face as part of Week-9th challenge at The Documented Life Project. Their challenge was to create  a collage from recycled elements. The face on the right is my piece. It is done on a brown paper bag (similar to the paper on the left) The hats on her head are all from scraps that I've painted. The face itself is painted on a waste paper that I usually keep underneath my pages when I spray paint.

Day:23 and 24

Two quick sketches that I did. Can you see the outline of a tea cup on my first girl's face? On Sunday, I had some important matters to think about and she evolved from my thoughts...
The third one is a simple face that I did with just black watercolor pencil on an already created background.

Faces 18-21

Wow! 8 more days to go and this month's 29 Faces challenge gets over. We are almost going to the third month of this year!
This week has not been good health wise. Here we have all been down with the flu and now are slowly recovering from it. Still I managed to do some pretty backgrounds and also added my faces to them.

Face :18 and 19

I did these faces on my daily journal.
The Week-8 challenge at Documented Life Project was to add an extra flap to the existing one. I added an Index Card and decorated it with some washi tape and a butterfly collage. On the existing flap I did one of my girls. I also added some balloons and stamping on it.

On the left end side I added one more flap, adhered it on the top with washi tape, filled the page with doodles and also added a butterfly and a face.It is one of the faces that I didn't like much but I didn't want to throw it away so here it is, all glued to my journal. Underneath the doodled flap I have lots of space to do my daily writing.
This is the other side of the ICAD all decorated with strips of washi tapes.
You fold it once more and then the journal is back to its original size.

Day:20
A face on an already finished background page.

Day:21
Another one of my favorite backgrounds to which I added a girl in water color.
This is how the whole page looks like.
I'm sharing these pages with Paint Party FridayArt Journal Everyday and of course 29 Faces
Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement here.
Wishing you all a happy weekend

Faces 16, 17

Sorry Elizabeth for being so late to visit T stands for Tuesday. I'm down with the flu but still did not want to miss posting here.
I've some doodled tea cups drawn on my daily writing journal. I thought of sharing these cups here and also in this terrible weather I always crave to have more and more cups of coffee/tea.
I also wanted to share my 16th and 17th Faces from the 29Faces challenge.
Day:16

 Day:17
Both the faces have been done on painted and stencilled backgrounds. On the second one I also had space for some journaling.
Heard that the temperatures are going to be in the 30's/40's. Yayy! Hope it is going to last.

Faces 12-15 and other art

Hello Saturday...
It has been a busy week for me. We will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary tomorrow. We have come a long way in both the good and not so good moments in life but looking back, I feel our trip together in this package known as marriage is going very quick-:)
Feeling very Thankful for all the blessings that I've received for myself and my family in this span of time.

Three more Faces from this week:
Day:12
I did her on the back cover of my daily writing journal. The supplies that I have used are different colors of Sharpies and watercolors.

Day:13
One more girl on my daily journal.
Day:14
A collage on Valentine's Day

Day:15
A very quick face on a very colorful, doodled and stencilled background.

The next two projects are from The Documented Life Project. Each week a prompt is given and these are my pages from last two weeks.
Pattern Play was the theme for this. I repeated lots of lines and circles on my page and finished it with some inspiring quotes.
Pinterest Inspiration was the theme for the week before that. My page was inspired by one of the tutorials by the very talented Dina Wakley.
Last week's prompt at  http://journal52.com/  was The Lost Art of Love Letters.
My take for the prompt:
"More than kisses, letters mingle souls" -John Donne

Will be back with more art to share here.
Thank you for being a part of my creative journey.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day  to everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful time with your loved ones today.
For today my journal page with a face collage is of course related to Valentines Day.
On recycled paper (This is Trader Joe's brown paper bag that I cut into my journal page size) after applying gesso, I added some quinacridone magenta, then stencilled with chevron pattern and on wax paper I did the little hearts and painted them with the same magenta shade. The girl's cut out was added and a cupid's face and hot-air balloon with the wording Be Mine were also adhered to the background.

29 Faces Day-9,10 and 11

Hello to Elizabeth and everyone at T stands for Tuesday. I can't believe it is almost mid-February!
Thank you so much for your feedback on my first tutorial that I posted here last week. Elizabeth, I've decided not to buy a heat gun any time soon, Thank you for sharing your experiences with it.

This month I had planned to share one tutorial each week, but I guess for this week I will have to wait to post one till Friday or Saturday. So today it is just faces that I'm learning to sketch  and a Tea pot and teacup picture that I found in an old book. Here they are:

Isn't this sketch awesome? I'm so inspired to sketch them on to my sketchbook. Hopefully, if I do, I'll share it here with you.
Now for the faces. Last month I took a great class on drawing realistic Faces by Mika Diaz. I've still not completed it, just slowly practicing each tutorial that she has in the class.
Day-9
 Day-10
 Day-11
Again only the second one is a completed sketch. I won't be doing anything more on it. But the first and the third need more work on them. But I'm happy with where I've reached with faces.
I remember once how afraid I was even to try to draw a face. Last year, I decided to be brave and started taking a few online classes on drawing faces and now I realize that I'm not scared anymore, all that I need to do is Practice, Practice and more Practice.
Thank you for checking
Wishing you all a great week

More Faces...

The last couple days were not the best ones for me creatively. Still I am happy that I continued to do art even though I was/ (still am) in the mood to just laze around. I of course did more faces.
Day:4
This one is incomplete but I love how she has turned out. It is one of the faces taught by Jane Davenport. Once I add color to her I will post it here again.

Day:5
Ha! My son said she looks weird but I find her interesting. All that I've used are blue acrylics for the background and India ink that is blotted on her head. I outlined her with blue and black water color pencils.

Day:6 I did her with water colors on a book page. Then glued her to my daily writing journal.

Day: 7 This little boy is my favorite from this week. I got inspired to do his sketch as he reminded me so much of my younger son. I got the image from one of my son's story book.

Day:8 I did an abstract page for journal 52 project. Loved the process so much that I ended up making another one and glued the girl on it.
The above page was done for http://journal52.com/week-5/ challenge. The prompt was to create an abstract art in our art journal. I did an abstract background and added a silhouette to it.

Winter Journal Page -Tutorial

Hello Elizabeth and everyone at T stands for Tuesday. The above picture shows how I usually start my day, over a hot cup of coffee and my daily journal. It is filled with my to do lists, goals for the month, lots of art and so on.

Today there is also another reason why I'm also excited to share this post with you all. For some time I'd been wanting to share the step by step instruction of  my art journal pages. But what happens is that while I create a page I totally forget to take the step by step pictures. So it has always remained as a dream.

But now, I think the right time has come as I remembered to take the pictures of one of my art pages and Yes! this is going to be my first tutorial post. I'm so happy to share it here with you.

Do you remember this page? This was the first art piece that I did in this year. As we are all getting buried in more and more snow I thought I should  make this page as my first tutorial.[Yes, I think there will be more in the coming weeks-:)]

As usual I forgot to take the step by step photos of the above page but luckily I had to create the same one again for another project. Then, I remembered to take the pictures of the process.
So then, let us start:

Step:1 I gessoed the two sides of a book page and left it to dry. (I don't have a heat dryer yet, hmmm, one day soon I am going to get it. I've heard it makes it so easier for the pages to dry)

Step:2 I stenciled over the pages using Glimmer mist The color that I used was Dragonfly. (If you don't have the mist you can even try to stencil using blue watercolor or acrylic paint) Don't worry even if the stenciling has not turned out to be perfect, as most of them will get covered in the next step.

Step:3 After it got dry, I used a Chevron stencil (Heidi Swapp Chevron Stencil)and stenciled over the page with white gesso. I did not use a thick coating, if you don't have gesso, white acrylic paint will also do. Leave it to dry.
Can you see the texture here?
Step:4  I next took a plain paper and drew the picture of a bare tree and painted it with Liquitex Basics, Burnt Umber paint. (You can even use watercolor paper and water color paint in brown but acrylic dries quicker) Once the paint was dry, I cut the tree image and adhered it to the background page.

Step:5 Next was the fun part for me. I sprayed the page with silver Glitter Dust (image given below) and for snow texture added Deco Art's, Glistening Snow-Tex Glittering Snow. I used a spatula to smear it on the page and left it to dry.  Don't forget to smear it on the tree branches too.

Once everything was dry, I added snowflake stickers on to the page, and sprayed glitter dust on Studio Calico chipboard numbers and adhered it on the right bottom side. Finally,I also added a quote written on a white strip of paper on to the left side of the page.

Extra Notes:
You can use water color or acrylic, paints or sprays instead of glimmer mist.
You can use any kind of paper for drawing the tree.
I used snowflake stickers,(sorry, don't remember the product name) but you can use whatever is there in your stash, chipboard images or words related to winter, stamps and so on)
You get the Glitter Dust and Deco Art Snow-Tex Glittering snow at Jo Ann's (If you have any kind of white or silver glitter that will do)
Remember, the most important thing is to enjoy the creative time that you get-:)

Hope the tutorial is clear to all and in case you have any questions please put them in the comment section and I will be glad to help you.  If you try this page or something similar to this, please let me know I would love to see what you have done.

 A face in watercolor.

Day-2
I traced this face on wax paper and glued it on brown paper bag .
