Happy Tuesday

Morning dear Elizabeth and all my 'Tea time' friends. I'm so happy to be here;-) Last week I missed posting here and visiting everyone.

Today I'm sharing my morning cup of coffee and my Fall journal.

I'm continuing with my Fall sketches in my 'No Sew Handmade Journal'.

One side of the journal is complete-:) I'm so happy with this season theme as the beautiful autumn colors are such an inspiration for me

Last week for Colombus day there were some good deals at the art stores. I got the Strathmore Mixed Media Art Journal. There are 64 pages in this and the paper is very thick and has a creamy shade to it. I prefer that than the stark white pages which some journals have.
I have decided to do one page a week and share it here.

This is the first page again I was inspired by Fall. The leaf impression was created out of a
real one-:) I then added Twinks to it and the stencilled circles. The page is done in many layers and I completed it with an inspiring quote.

"Keep going. Everything you need will come to you at the perfect Time."

I usually add quotes that are relevant to me. I've not been feeling very good lately. Of course with time and some good thinking now I'm back to my old self. This line is exactly what I wanted to see.

Thank you for being here
Have a lovely week

Friday Art

Happy Friday and here are more Fall sketches that I did in my handmade journal:

I'm enjoying sketching this way, with Fall season as my theme. I'm all set to make a new journal for the next season.
I'm linking these sketches to Alexandra's Sunday Sketches

Week-40 from the Documented Life Project challenge. Paint or use three colors that you never use. I have used four colors here and this was challenging for me as I couldn't find any three colors that i have never used. Instead I realized that I was not happy with this color combo- blue, violet and orange mix. So this is my take for Week-40 challenge.

.
Week-42 Stars
I have still not done  the 41st week challenge.Last week's theme was stars and I created this page using modeling paste and Twinkling H2O's. I also added silver glitter to the stars-:)

That is all for this week.

Roots Day 1, 2 and 3

A warm Hello to dear Elizabeth and all my other blogger friends at T Stands for Tuesday
I want to Thank each and everyone of you who took the time to go through my son's sketches and had encouraged him with your kind words here. I showed him that and he was very happy. Of course I do remind him that he has only started this journey, and if he is interested in continuing with his passion there will always be more encouraging and inspiring words for him-:)

Today I'm sharing my usual  big mug of coffee with one of the art pages that I did for Lisa Sonora Beam's online Art Journaling class, Roots. This is my second time doing the same class but I still feel motivated to write on the quotes that she posts each day.

The above page was done for Day-3 prompt. It was on cultivating our roots. So I did this painting with my new acrylic Golden paint set. These paints are so expensive that I can't afford to buy them at their original price. But last week there was a 55% off coupon at our A.C.Moore and Yes! I just snagged a small set. Once I used them I realized why they are so pricey. The colors are so creamy and rich. I'm sure I'm going to get more colors with the help of more coupons-:)

I did this page for Day-2. I found creating this Yoga pose silhouette very apt for her theme on commitment to oneself in life.

Day-1 I did a collage. The prompt was about starting something, in this case journaling, even if we are able to take only baby steps.
I'm yet to do my Day-4 and 5 Challenges. I'm doing all the 30 Days Challenge in a note book.

The above Summer Blooms were done in watercolors in my daily journal as part of an FB weekly prompt.

That is all for this week.
Hope you all have a warm and sunny Tuesday

Welcome August

Welcome to a new month
Hello Friday and hello to all my blog friends. Life has been pretty busy this holiday but I'm managing to catch up with my blog posts.

My children love to see my nature especially animal drawings. So this week I did these fish in watercolors.

An art journal page in the making. When it is about deciding whether a page is done I go by my instinct. I feel the background is done but there is the need to add something else, maybe a quote. What do you think?

I used a variety of acrylic paints, Dylusion sprays, glimmer mists, modeling paste and stencils. Love to create such spontaneous art pages.

From today Lisa Sonora Beam's Root: 30 Day Journal Project has started. It is a free online course for 30 days. I did this last January and loved it. So you can see more Art Journaling here this month.

That is all for today. Now I'm going to try doing something based on the first prompt from Lisa's course.
Wish you all a lovely weekend.

T for Tuesday with my son

Hello to Elizabeth and all my blogger friends here at T stands for Tuesday. This is my last post of this month. One more month of holidays for the children here and in September we can get back to our old routine.

This is how my dining table looks in the early mornings-:)  I dream of having a small creative room of my own. Sometimes it gets so frustrating to clean everything each time my free time gets over. Anyways I'm sure one day I will get my own little place to create art.In my big mug I'm having my usual morning cup of coffee.

For today I wanted to share with you all some of the art that my 7 year old son has done. He loves nature and reads and finds out everything that he can about it, particularly about falcons (the peregrine falcon), alligators, and many other raptors. We go to our library and he takes atlases on the wild animals and birds. Below are some of his sketches that he drew after referring the atlas and encyclopedias.

This is one of my favorites. His eye for details enthralls me. I was so amazed to see how realistically he has even tried the reflections in the pond here.

One of his colored sketches. He prefers to do pencil drawings but once in a while takes his coloring supplies and adds some color to his drawings.

Yet another favorite one of mine The Taj mahal.

A page from his sketchbook on different kinds of birds.

We are so proud of this little one who can sit for hours with his sketchbook. I hope he will continue with this current passion of his.
That is it for this week. Wishing you all a wonderful T Day

Tuesday paintings...

Happy Tuesday everyone. Today at Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday I'm sharing my morning glass of warm water with lemon. I try to have it the first thing in the morning. On the left is the water in which I dip my brushes while I'm painting.

Above are some of my nature sketches from my daily sketching journal

For my birthday I got to choose an online class as a gift. I took Wyanne Thompson's class on Watercolors. I love her painting style and the above painting is from that class.

I incorporated her style and did this piece by myself. Today is one of my close friend's birthday. She is in India and somehow I found a connection between  this painting and her love and compassion towards her little ones. So this painting is for you ,  Happy Birthday 'R' Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.

Hope you all have a Lovely Tuesday

Watercolors...

Life here is so busy that I totally forgot to update this little space here. Thankfully I'm getting time to do art but finding it difficult to remember to take pictures and upload them here-:)
Anyways, better late than never so here are some of my creations from last week:

Dear Linda, I was so inspired by the bird nest photos that you had shared at your place last week. I did one in my daily sketching journal.

   A study on doing grapes.

A trial at loose watercolor roses...
Right now, the weather is so beautiful here. It reminds me of Spring with beautiful sunshine added with a cool breeze. Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Happy Tuesday and The Giveaway Winners...

Happy Tuesday and Happy First Anniversary to Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday  I totally forgot to find a memorable  post that Elizabeth had asked to share this week. I just went to sign up at her page and then I saw the reminder. So here I'm back again updating and posting my page.

AND

Thank you so much for your Birthday wishes and for the response to my Giveaway.
The winners have been chosen.
They are Rita and  Faye
Congratulations to you both and I hope you will love your gifts. Do mail me your addresses. I'll be sending the packages at the earliest.

Last week I was the recipient of a lovely giveaway package. I was the SOC week-4 winner.
These are the wonderful things that I received. Thank you so much Kristin for this wonderful birthday surprise. I'm all set to try them.

I've been up to something on my sketchbook with my usual morning cup of Folgers' coffee beside it.

Currently I'm going through Charles Reid's watercolor painting books and did this and the one below from them. Love his loose style with the water colors.

If you ask me the most memorable post from T stands for Tuesday, of course it is my first post. It is
this post and I love the tea cup that I had created (have posted the photo of it at the beginning of this post)  and also I'd shared some of my son's art work there. Thank you Elizabeth for allowing us to have a platform where we can share our art or things that we love with you and other like minded souls.

Have a wonderful week. I'm linking my page to Elizabeth and all the other friends at  T stands for Tuesday.

More Water colors

This week I was busy practicing water colors. Love this medium but OMG! always I come across so many new ways on achieving various effects.

I tried glazing technique on the above painting. I got so many elements wrong in here but then I take all this as part of my learning process.

One more doodled water color piece.

I'm hosting a giveaway here If you are interested you can visit my post and leave a comment there. The giveaway is open till Tuesday, the 15th of July till 12:00 p.m EST.

Happy July

Happy July 4th to all my American friends. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
I can relate Summer to a variety of fruits. My children love them and one of their favorites is the watermelon.

A water color painting of an apple that I did a few days back. I'm happy with the rich colors that I achieved from my Koi water colors.

Some days, whatever I try to create, it never comes out right. Yesterday was one such day. I tried to do some flowers and the result got out to be disastrous! Last week I made a trip to Blick and got a new sketchbook named, Nature Sketch. It has sheets of 130 lb weight but somehow I'm not very happy with it.

Maybe it was just that yesterday was not my day to play with paints. On such occasions, I take a break for a day or two and then I come back with a renewed energy. How do you come out of creative blocks? I would love to know.

Welcome July

Welcome July! Thank you so much for the wonderful comments that you  all showered on the last week's sketches. Krisha, I'm adding the link of the tutorial. If anybody else is interested, do take a look at this link

I bought some new cups from Target . Love them for their color and these became my theme for my daily sketch. I'm also linking this to Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday
These Tiger Lilies are thriving in our apartment complex and now they are also part of my daily sketching journal.
I tried to sketch the apartment building opposite to ours. But it didn't come out well. Anyways I'm happy to document something related to where we are living.

Love to sketch birds and this is a piece that I did of a little sparrow.

My children love fruits and this week I did these blueberries in my sketch book.

Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend
