Going Undercover DLP challenge

The second challenge  for the month of February at DLP was to "Cover up the good stuff". This was not an easy project for me. Anyways this is what I came up with.
I had a page where there was some leftover paint. With the help of  a  handmade stencil I drew the pattern and painted them.
Next, I glued the handmade stencils on the page.

I then gave a background wash using acrylics.I finished the page with some bold black outlining over the patterns.

Then came the hard part. I covered up one side of it using white texture medium. I also wrote over it with black paint and brush.
" Good stuff can be hidden under the layers. It need not be always on the surface."

I feel this to be very true especially of human nature.

I am happy with the way how I created this page for last week's challenge.
That is it for this week.

Late "Tea and art"

Today it is a late T for Tuesday post. But I didn't want to  miss  it. Above is a watercolor that I did sometime ago. As for my drink I'm having a cup of strong tea.

Above is a page where I had freely done some mixed media work.

I then cut it in the shape of a fish and created a water scene.

Thank you for being here. Wishing you all a lovely week

Layers...

The first theme for this month at http://www.arttothe5th.com is " Layers you will love"
This was my first layer of watercolors
From there I went on with layers of  acrylic paints, white texture medium, watercolor collage and so on.

This is how I ended my page and I love it.

T stands for being Thankful

Hello dear Elizabeth and all others at T stands for Tuesday. Thank you all for your kind words on my last post. I feel so blessed for being able to continue with my art.

The above chart is of a Solar System that my second grader did for the science exhibition at his school. It was held last Friday and he won third place for his creation.

The drink that I am sharing  here is an apple shake that the kids love having in this hot weather. Along with milk and apple I add one or two scoops of vanilla ice cream too.
As for my art this is a parrot that I did in watercolor  a while ago.
Wish you all have a lovely week

Friday Art

Hello to yet another weekend. This week I want to share the art that I did for week-5 DLP challenge. This week it is so special for me as my son too played along with me to create this beautiful  page.
DLP Week-5 Art Challenge : Under paper
The journal prompt : What lies underneath

This is a collaborative art. The elephants were drawn by my eight year old son. I then used watercolors over them and also added some crayon resists. I then pasted them over the underpaper that was again created out of water color.

Yet another sample of an under paper.

This page was done for the second  week  challenge.
The Art challenge was to use Gesso. The journal prompt was a quote by Mary Shelly-" The beginning is always today."

Wishing you all a great weekend

Back to T stands for ...

Hello dear Elizabeth and all at T stands for Tuesday. Gosh! it has been so long since I have been here. My mother-in-law passed away on the 28th of November. It was so sudden and unexpected. We flew back home, to India and are still here. I and the children are planning to stay here with my father-in-law till the mid of 2015.

I always believe that whatever hurdles life throw at us we have to face it and move according to the current situation. For this academic year I have sought admission for my kids here. They are coming to terms with their new school environment.

As for me,I'm trying to get my creative mojo back  My challenge is to create with minimum art supplies. I just took my small set of winsor and newton watercolors from the US. I bought some artists quality acrylic paints and few brushes from here and am really looking forward to this creative adventure.

Here are some water color paintings that I did last month.

The drink I want to share with  you is a glass of pomegranate juice that I made at home. Here it is hot and humid and this is one of the best drinks that I have had in a while.

That is it for this week. Hope to be back again with a new post next week.
