Face 27, 28 and 29.

Wow! At last I'm here typing and trying to post for Elizabeth's T for Tuesday. Thankfully I got some time to spare, to share my last three faces of the 29 Faces challenge and a couple of other things.

These are the last faces that I had completed.

 I had done something similar to her before in my journal. I did this angel for someone else.

 I did mention that this year I was focusing on doing faces. So I'd taken Christy Tomlinson's She Art-3 class. This pretty lady is from that class.I should try to do her facial features too.

This was purely an experiment. This is a collage piece made with layers of  paint and paper. I got the idea from Susan Pickering Rothamel's book The Art of Paper Collage. She  has so many interesting art projects and I hope to try more from her book.

And there you are! Yayyyy! I finished my 29 Faces. Hope to do this again. This challenge has really stretched my imagination and has also taken that fear of doing faces away. Do check in here to see more faces from this challenge.

And yes, of course I also want to share this week's watercolor painting that I did.

  I'm so happy about this painting. This picture is from a photo that I took last year of a very old building. I have always dreamt of sketching or painting it but never believed in myself. At last, yesterday when I did this in my class I was  over the moon.

Courage is the word that I chose for myself this year and I think I showed the courage to try something that I never thought that I could do. And here I'm happy about this and wanting to try more things in art.

That sweet little tea cup is part of a gift set that we received for our wedding hmm, when was that! it is soon going to be a decade-:)

More Faces

Here are the faces from Day 21-26 of the 29 faces challenge. Some I tried creating by myself and some are from couple of classes that I took. I'm linking my faces to PaintPartyFriday and Julie's Art Journal Everyday

 This is one of my favorite girls. I might try to give her a real face and might even try to create on canvas.

 Well! She has not come out the way I wanted, still I like her. I just feel happy when I look at her so she is a keeper.

This is Ms. Confidence. Somehow once I finished her that's what came into my mind about her. So that's her name. 

 This year one of my goals was to learn to draw faces. So with that aim I took Natasha May's cute whimsical Cotton Candy Girls workshop. Love her big eyed girls and the above two are from that class.

This lovely girl is from the wonderful class  taught by Junelle Jacobson. Her projects are happy, colorful and whimsical and I'm a big fan of her classes. 

Three more faces and Yes! I can feel proud of being able to complete this challenge. Of course, some of the faces are old, which I'd drawn before this month.Still I never thought that I could create these many faces.It was pure fun and I'll be back soon with the rest of the faces.

29 Faces Day 14-20

Here are my faces of this week. Wow! 9 more faces to go, time sure goes super fast.

 

   This is my flower girl and I love her

 The background is just a printed napkin and her dress is made out of gelli print paper.

 She is a favorite of mine. On the right is the gelli printed paper that I'd used to create her.That quote is for me and for anyone out there who spends so much time wasting to be a perfectionist.

 Normally, I would never dream of creating a green lipped girl but I'm just trying to be not perfect or realistic all the time.

 This last face is a painting that I did some months ago. It was part of a class that I took and yes, since she had all the unrealistic colors on her I never wanted to post her on my blog. So, there she is,  now I'm ok with her being here.I traced her and colored her with watercolor.

Fall, my favorite season is almost here.I'm waiting to see the shades of yellow, gold,red and brown around me.

29 Faces: Day-7 to Day-13

This week I've seven faces to show(I can't believe that I've done 13 faces so far).  They are a mix, some I love and some turned out to be just okay. But I am being brave here to post all of them.

  This is my red haired girl. I painted her on patterned paper.

Long time ago I used to do Egyptian paintings on glass. Here I tried them on mixed media paper with lot of texture. I'm planning to do more of them.

 This is a collage. My six year old's favorite-:). I cut her out and did a face makeover. Added the flowers and the butterfly and the quote.  "If you stumble... make it part of your dance.", a reminder to myself that it's okay if things don't get right always. Perfectionism kills the fun in creating, a very valuable lesson that I learned in the last couple of months.

This week  I got Kelly-Rae-Roberts' awesome book, Taking Flight. This girl and the background were done from the techniques presented in it.I also added the wordings :" The joy of Learning" It's always wonderful to learn new techniques and get inspired by other artists' works.

 She is my favorite, my 2 year old's too. He said, "she looks pretty" my two sons are my critics-:) This is my Art Journal which got completed last month and I never thought of doing the cover.I adopted some techniques from Kelly Rae's  book and did this beautiful background and the girl.

I made a quick practice sketch with charcoal pencil. I think I might use her for a Halloween theme-:) Maybe next week, I'll try to spend more time with charcoal pencils.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. My week was so busy, getting adjusted to school schedules, some emotional struggles on parting with my little one for a couple of hours in a day care, lunch plans, a watercolor class, and of course faces. But I simply love this chaos that is a part and parcel of my life, and I am embracing all that is being gifted to me.

29 Faces Day-2 to Day-6

I thought I could do 29 faces just like that -:) No, it is not easy at all! But this challenge is helping me to practice drawing faces and trying out new mediums.Otherwise I don't think I would have ever tried faces like the ones that I've done below.
These are the faces that I drew from Day-2 to Day-6.
    I did three whimsical faces on gelli  print paper.

And the last couple of days had been so busy for me that I could only manage to sketch two faces.

Hopefully when I get time I want to try drawing these faces on canvas.

This week I am also doing some tea cups The girl with the teapot and cups was drawn as part of that challenge and here are a couple more of my cups:

There is always time for Tea.

The weather is getting cooler here. I hope we have warm weather for some more weeks. Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend. Mine is going to be super busy with  a friends' get together tomorrow and then on Sunday it's all about getting ready to school for my first grader.

29 Faces Challenge

This week I've some art pieces that I made for a couple of challenges.
I came to know about the 29 faces challenge at Ayala Art from my friend Dawn. This year I thought I too will give it a try. So  this is the face that I made for the first day's challenge.

A Cup of Tea Makes my Day

Above is a mixed-media piece which I did in my journal. This is for another challenge that I'm doing this month. The first week's theme is Tea Cups.

A watercolor page in my journal. The inspiration behind this was the fishing boats that I've seen in my home town.
